Channel Charting An Overview

Coursework: I have successfully completed a total of five RTP courses of 15 credits. In addition, I have completed two non-RTP courses, E0 230: Computational Methods of Optimization and E9 205: Machine Learning for Signal Processing, with a total of 8 credits. Identification of Broad Research Area: We have identified Channel Charting (CC) and Statistical Channel State Information (S-CSI) as two broad areas of research interest. Our goal is to explore potential methodologies to establish a meaningful connection between these two domains.
Literature Survey: I have conducted several literature surveys on the aforementioned topics. The existing body of work on Channel Charting spans a wide spectrum, beginning with its foundational concepts, and extending to techniques for distance learning and feature construction. These methodologies are designed to accurately predict the future pseudo-positions of user terminals (UTs) within a cellular network. Moreover, several studies explore the use of channel charting for predicting future channel state information (CSI). These works also highlight its potential in reducing the channel estimation overheads. As for Statistical CSI, my literature review primarily focuses on scenarios involving reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided massive MIMO systems. These works propose rate maximization frameworks that rely solely on statistical CSI, effectively decreasing the substantial overhead associated with instantaneous channel estimation. We are also exploring potential problems in which not only the statistical properties of the desired channels are known, but also the statistics of interference originating from neighboring base stations. The objective is to understand how the availability of interference statistics influences and potentially enhances existing approaches in the literature.
CNI Activities: I have attended several CNI seminars, which have been highly beneficial in enhancing my understanding across a wide range of topics. I have also registered for the upcoming CNI Summer School to further deepen my knowledge in Networking
