We were fortunate to organize a five-day summer school titled "Rumours, Consensus, and Epidemics on Networks" from July 14–18, 2025, led by Prof. Ayalvadi Ganesh from the University of Bristol. The workshop attracted enthusiastic participation from students and researchers across India, who gathered at IISc to explore the dynamics of random processes on networks.
Prof. Ganesh covered foundational techniques used to analyze decentralized algorithms for large-scale systems such as the Internet, peer-to-peer networks, and blockchains. With applications spanning computer science, social dynamics, economics, and infectious disease modeling, the sessions offered both theoretical depth and practical insights into how randomness can enable robust, scalable mechanisms for consensus and information dissemination.
